Installing a Louvre Roof on Unique Frenchs Forest Pergola Design
Looking at this pergola, the first thing that most people notice is the acute angle at which the frame is attached to the house. The oritentation of the pergola in relation to the house, backyard, and pool area meant that a rectangular pergola design would not work on this property.
Before speaking to Opening Roof Specialists, the owners of this new Frenchs Forest pergola spoke to other builders about creating a louvred roof in their backyard pool area. This proved to be too difficult , or not desirable, for other builders to construct.
Solving the Problem with Fixed Louvres
Opening Roof Specialists came up with a solution that satisfied all the requirements by creating two small roof sections with fixed-position louvres. This means only two small triangular sections of the roof are permanently in the closed position, which is shown in the above photos and video. This left us with two standard rectangular bays to install the Eclipe Opening Roof operable roof louvres. This left us with colour choices and accessories to consider.
The frame and post colours are matched to the gutters of the house and the louvre colour is matched to the external walls of the house. We used Duratec Elements to coat our products, to withstand the harsh Australian sun and make this Frenchs Forest pergola last a lifetime. With the addition of integrated LED downlights, this pergola draws people into the backyard pool area at any time of day or night.
